The Goa government launched '112' as its new integrated number for police, fire and medical emergencies replacing the traditional number '100'. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, "In the first phase, the dial '112' service will cover only the police department. Fire and medical services would be brought under the new dial number in the second phase". He said that the change will bring down the response time of the agencies.
