Government creates database of 5.5 crore farmers to make central schemes more accessible

In a bid to expand the coverage of central schemes, the central government has created a database of 5.5 crore farmers. After the creation of the database is complete, every farmer will get a 12-digit unique ID. The database of farmers will contain information of all benefits and supports of various schemes of central and state governments. The database will also be linked by the land records of farmers.
