Government okays creation of Rs 7,800 crore secure border communication system

The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has given its nod to the creation of a secure communication system for the army to strengthen India's position in border areas including the Line of Actual Control. The border network system will cost the government Rs 7,800 crore. The committee has cleared the way for the establishment of the Army Static Switched Communication Network (ASCON) Phase IV, a proposal that was long-pending.
