The Great Barrier Reef's outlook has been officially downgraded from poor to very poor because of drastic climate change. Rising sea temperatures due to human-driven global warming have become the biggest threat to the reef, a 5-year Australian government report states. Stretching more than 2,300km, the reef was once announced a World Heritage site in 1981 for its vast scientific and intrinsic importance.
