Gujarat launched world's first programme to trade particulate air pollutant quotes

India's Gujarat state has become the home for the first trading program for particulate air pollution quotes. The govt is going to cap the total amount of air particulate matter that can be emitted over a period of time by all the plants collectively. Then the plants can purchase permits for a certain amount of emission from the NCDEX. A team of experts from the University of Chicago and Yale University worked on the project.
