Hamas reaches agreement with Israel to end over three weeks long escalation

After more than three weeks of cross border escalation, Gaza’s Islamist rulers Hamas said they have reached a Qatari-mediated agreement to end the cross-border attacks. “An understanding was reached to rein in the latest escalation and end (Israeli) aggression against our people,” the office of the Palestinian territory’s Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar said. Israel has been continuously bombing Gaza since August 6.
