Haryana Assembly passes bill granting 50% reservation to women in rural bodies

In a landmark decision, the Haryana Assembly passed a bill to provide 50 percent reservation to women of the state in Panchayati Raj institutions. The bill also grants an 8 percent reservation to the "more disadvantaged" section of the backward classes. As per the bill tabled by CM Dushyant Chautala, the village sarpanches and members of the block-level panchayat samitis will be recalled in case they fail to deliver.
