Himachal government to develop Rohtang tunnel landfill into tourism village

The Himachal Pradesh government has decided to develop the landfill site adjoining the North Portal of the Atal Tunnel in Rohtang into a tourism village. The tunnel at 13,058-ft was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ten months ago. The tunnel has been built by the Border Roads Organisation. A lake has been created by the Indian Army near the South Portal about 10km away by tapping a rivulet.
