Union Home Minister Amit Shah said to officials while chairing a high-level meeting on Friday to review the preparedness of measures to deal with monsoon and flood situation in major flood-prone river basins in the country, that he wanted a permanent solution to flood in most affected areas like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and the Northeast. A total of 40 million hectares area in India is prone to floods.
