World's first ever case of the rat version of hepatitis E virus has been found in Hong Kong. This discovery has major public health significance as earlier there had been no proof or evidence of this disease to jump from the rats to the humans. The man who was affected is now recovering after treatment. He could have been affected by food infected by rat droppings as the area near his house was infested by rats.
