The IMD had an indication that the low pressure in Bay of Bengal & equatorial Indian Ocean could pop into a massive storm 13 days before & they started to prepare for the blitz. Low pressure is the initial stage of formation of cyclone & IMD along with other institutes of Ministry of Earth Sciences ran data through 10 specialised weather models, realised that it al suggested that it was going to turn to a cyclone.
