A huge uproar erupted on Chinese social media channels after at least 8 feminist channels on Douban, a popular social networking forum in China, were abruptly shut. This led to several women's rights supporters including Zhou Xiaoxuan calling on women in the country to "stick together". "I firmly support my sisters on Douban, and oppose Douban's cancellation of feminist channels," Zhou wrote on social media.
