The meteorological service in Cuba reported that Hurricane Ida made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane on the southwestern coast of the country on Friday. The hurricane struck the town of La Coloma, in the province of Pinar del Rio. According to Cuba's meteorology institute Insmet, the hurricane was accompanied by sustained winds of 80 miles per hour. The hurricane is expected to reach the US Sunday.
