Mourners gathered in Iceland on Sunday to commemorate the end of Okjokull, which has lost its battle with global warming at the age of about 700. The glacier was officially announced dead in 2014 when it was no longer thick enough to move. What once was Iceland’s first glacier now has been reduced to a little patch of ice on top of a volcano. In 2018, a documentary was made on the loss of the glacier titled ‘Not Ok.’
