The Centre came up with a Data Protection Bill, 2019 in Parliament with new provisions on Wednesday. The government said the bill will be safeguarding the rights of Indians. "As per the architecture of the Bill, if data is taken without consent of the individual, you will suffer a penalty," IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said. "if you misuse the data beyond the permissible consent, you will suffer consequences," he added.
