India at the top of bribery and using connections to get public benefits globally
In an embarrassing feat, India has topped the chart of countries with the highest cases of bribery. According to a report by Transparency International, 39% of public service users had to pay a bribe to avail the requisite service last year. The report was prepared after studying data from 17 countries. Cambodia is second on the list with 37%. 46% of public users in India had to use connections for getting their jobs done.
