The total count of coronavirus cases in India breached the 1 crore-mark on December 18. It took the country nearly 9 months since the beginning of the pandemic to reach the milestone. The first case of the pandemic was reported in the country on January 27. The number of cases continued to pile up despite a 68-day long extended lockdown. On the positive side, the recovery rate in the country remains to be one of the best in the world.
