According to a latest report published by research firm Top10VPN, India lost $1.3 billion due to 4,196 hours of no internet in 2019. On average, 8.4 million users were affected across the multiple incidents due to the internet shutdown, ranging from Kashmir to Assam. According to the research, India had over 100 targeted blackouts in 2019 -amounting to around 4,196 hours, due to several reasons such as Section 144.
