India records 55,097 new coronavirus COVID-19 cases; Total cases crosses 27 lakh mark

India's COVID-19 tally increased to 27,02,742 with a single-day spike of 55,097 cases, while the total number of recoveries rose to 19,77,780 pushing the recovery rate to 73.18 percent on Tuesday, according to the Union Health Ministry data. The death toll due to coronavirus infection climbed to 51,797 with 876 people succumbing to the disease in the last 24 hours as per the Ministry data.
