According to data collected by IMD, July 2019 is recorded to be the hottest ever in India. Every year due to an increase in CO2 emissions, the temperature rises by 1.5°C. If this continues, then an eightfold increase in heatwaves will be witnessed by India. Jharkhand, Meghalaya, and Assam recorded a temp 5.1° above normal, whereas, West Bengal and Sikkim 3.1° above normal. Resulting in increased morbidity and mortality.
