India unlikely to get a waiver from US on S-400 acquisition

India has been informed by the United States that it is unlikely to get a waiver on its planned acquisition of Russian S-400 air defence systems from Russia. India faces the risk of US sanctions just like Turkey over the acquisition of the world-class air defence system. The outgoing Donald Trump-administration has been persistent in asking India to drop the $5.5 billion deal for the acquisition of 5 units of S-400.
