Indian Railways suffered losses worth Rs. 1,670 crore due to protests by Punjab farmer

According to the government sources, the blockade of the rail route in Punjab due to the protests by farmers caused a loss of Rs. 1,670 crore as several freight trains were cancelled. The ongoing protests that started 50 days ago have led to the cancellation of 1,986 passenger services and 3,090 goods trains to the region. As per the sources, Railways is bearing a loss of nearly Rs. 36 crore daily due to the protests.
