With the world moving slowly towards electric vehicles to cut down carbon emissions, Japan is set to join the league by imposing a ban on the sale of new gasoline-engine cars by the mid-2030s. The country is expected to shift to hybrid or electric vehicles with an aim to cut down carbon emissions to zero on a net basis by 2050. A plan for the same will be charted out by the government by the end of this year.
