Japan set to release over a million tonnes of waste water from Fukushima Nuclear Plant into sea

In a move that has already triggered controversy at home as well as abroad, Japan has decided to release more than a million tonnes of treated water from the Fukushima nuclear plant into the ocean. However, the process of water release is expected to take decades. While several countries including China have criticised the move, the International Atomic Energy Agency has said the release is similar to disposals across the world.
