The Karnataka government is mulling to introduce a Kannada language test for job seekers and people looking for admission in educational institutions in the state, in a bid to provide a home advantage to its citizens. “The objective is not just to protect the interest of locals but also to ensure better interaction between locals and those who are on the job," said T.S. Nagabharana, chairman of the Kannada Development Authority.
