Karnataka Waqf Board prohibits use of loudspeakers for azaan between 10 pm to 6 am

In a major decision, the Karnataka State Board of Auqaf has issued a set of instructions that include prohibiting the use of loudspeakers for azaan between 10 pm and 6 am. "The area comprising not less than 100 meters around hospitals, educational institutions and courts have been declared as 'silence zones'," the circular said. Abdul Hannan, SDPI state president, lambasted the board saying it had nothing to do with Quran.
