Kerala with highest literacy rate registered maximum case under Section 377 in 2016

Though the SC on 6th September decriminalized gay sex, things were not the same as always. At the time when gay sex was a crime, Kerala and UP registered maximum number of cases under Section 377 between 2014 and 2016. In 2016, a total of 2195 cases were reported under this section. In the same year UP at the top of list registered 999 cases, Kerala at the 2nd position registered 207 cases and in Delhi, 183 cases were filed.
