Lucknow has India's only market where the vegetables are called by their Sanskrit names. Just to name a few, potato is called by the name ‘Alookam,’ tomato is ‘raktphalam,’ bitter gourd is ‘karvelah,’ carrots are ‘gunjanakkam’ and onions are ‘Palanduh.’
