In a major step, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has banned the sale and use of Chinese firecrackers in the state ahead of the Diwali festival. “If anyone is found to be involved in selling and use of ban crackers, punitive action will be taken under the relevant section of the Explosives Act,” the CM said at a meeting. Those found storing or selling Chinese crackers may face up to two years of jail.
