A new iOS app has been launched by Microsoft named Soundscape that will help blind people or visually impaired awareness about their surroundings by using 3D cues. The app doesn’t aim at replacing canes or dogs. The app will aid the people by giving audio clues using GPS and built-in compass in the phone. The mapping data is provided by OpenStreetMap. It offers three modes – ‘locate’, ‘around me’ and ‘ahead of me’.
