'Might have had 2 lakh cases if lockdown was not implemented': Health Ministry

Lav Aggarwal, Joint Secretary, Health Ministry today said during his routine press conference that imposing lockdown was a necessary measure that was taken to curb the spread of the global pandemic, novel coronavirus. He said India would have had 2 lakh positive cases of the novel coronavirus, if the restrictions were not in place. He added that there are more than 586 hospitals across the country fighting the pandemic.
