More than 100,000 kids orphaned or lost a parent since Covid outbreak: NCPCR tells Supreme Court

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights told the Supreme Court that more than 100,000 children lost one or both their parents since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020. Advocate Swarupama Chaturvedi said on the behalf of the commission in the top court that 8,161 children were orphaned, 396 children were abandoned and 92,475 lost one of their parents during the first and the second wave.
