Gunmen carrying rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns, explosives and rifles launched an attack on a prison in Nigeria, helping over 1,800 inmates to escape from the prison. The attack happened at the administrative block of the prison in the southeastern town of Owerri. Attackers used explosives to attack the prison. According to the Nigerian Correctional Service, as many as 1,844 inmates escaped the prison.
