According to the latest data released by United Nations, more than 47 million women and girls may fall into extreme poverty by 2021 due to the novel coronavirus. UN said it this scale of downfall happens, the decades of efforts to lift women above the poverty line may get reversed. Going by this projection, the poverty rate in women may increase by 9.1% by 2021 as compared to the previous estimate of 2.7%.
