Mumbai schools and junior colleges will remain closed on Thursday due to a forecast by Indian Meteorological Department stating ‘extremely heavy’ rains on Sept. 20. Maharashtra Education minister Ashish Shelar tweeted an announcement that the state government has declared a holiday for schools and junior colleges in Mumbai, Thane, and Konkan region. IMD issued Red Alert predicting very heavy rainfall till September 21.
