NASA's OSIRIS REx asteroid sampling probe has shattered the close orbit record it set less than 6 months ago. It began circling 1650-foot-wide space rock Bennu at an altitude of 0.8 miles, closer than any probe had ever orbited a planetary body before. OSIRIS-REx will take images of Bennu's horizon over the next 2 weeks, to help mission scientists better understand the strange particle ejection events the probe observed earlier.
