According to a New York University study, the wide use of phthalates, a group of chemicals used in plastic containers, makeup and several other products, may lead to nearly 100,000 older Americans dying annually. The chemicals are used in hundreds of products that people use on a daily basis. Leonardo Trasande, the lead author of the study, revealed heart disease is among the most common cause behind these deaths.
