Nirbhaya rape case convict asks mercy plea to be withdrawn, says never authorised it

In a major development in the Nirbhaya gang-rape case, Vinay Sharma, one of the convicts in the case has asked that the mercy plea in his name be withdrawn as he never authorised it. Sharma claimed the mercy plea sent to President Kovind by the Home Ministry wasn't signed and authorised by him. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal had sent the file rejecting the plea to the Home Ministry earlier this week.
