Nitin Gadkari says FASTag will be mandatory from January 1

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has said that FASTag will be made mandatory for all vehicles in the country from January 1, 2021. "It's useful for commuters as they will not need to stop at toll plazas for cash payments, saving time and fuel," the minister added. Launched in 2016, Fastags will be compulsory for Transport Vehicles for the renewal of fitness certificate too. More than 34 lakh FASTags were issued in 2018.
