An island in Northern Norway is campaigning to become the world's first time-free zone. From November to January there is the polar night when the sun doesn't rise at all, and the rest of the year the sun doesn't set. The locals have no regard for conventional timekeeping, and when there is sunlight always, people play and work even at midnight. On June 13th, the Islanders signed a petition to make the island a time-free zone.
