IIT Mandi scientists developed a self-cleaning glass that can purify impurities from wastewater using sunlight. Wastewater from pharmaceutical & textile industries is a major source of water pollution. Removing dissolved organic compounds is quite challenging & hence Rahul Vaish, associate professor at IIT Mandi recommends the use of photocatalysis to treat wastewater before harmful contaminants pollute the rivers.
