Number of Indians living in US almost doubled since 1990

According to the American Community Survey (ACS) data for 2018, 13% of the total population of the country is constituted of foreign-born citizens. The total number of foreign-born population in the US stands at 44.7 million. The population originating from India stood at 2.65 million. Indians contribute to 5.9% of the total population. The count of Indian nationals was 4.5 lakh in 1990 which reached up to 8.7 lakh in 2018.
