Odisha recorded the highest number of lightning as 9 lakh lightning strikes this year: IMD

Odisha recorded the maximum number of lightning as 9 lakh lightning strikes this year. The highest number of deaths recorded due to lightning was in Uttar Pradesh, whereas the least number of lightning was recorded in J&K with 20,000 lightning strikes. This is the record shared by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Following Odisha, the other states are Maharashtra with 6.26 lakh strikes and Karnataka with 6.21 lakh.
