The World Food Programme and the Food and Agricultural Organization have said that nearly 27.3 million people in the Democratic Republic of Congo are facing acute hunger. According to the UN agencies, one in three people in the country is facing critical hunger. "We cannot have children going to bed hungry and families skipping meals for an entire day," said Peter Musoko, WFP's country representative.
