Open defecation comes down by 47% in India between 2000-2017: WHO UNICEF report

According to a Joint Monitoring Report by WHO/UNICEF, the open defecation rate in India has come down by 47% between 2000-2017 and more than 43% of Indians have gained access to basic sanitation during these years. According to the report, more than one-third of the population of Nepal and Lao People's Democratic Republic and more than half the population of Cambodia, Ethiopia, and India have given up open defecation.
