Out of every 14.5 mn tweets sent to women, 1.1 mn were abusive

A survey was conducted in which 288,000 tweets sent to 778 female politicians and journalists in the US and the UK in 2017 were reviewed by the Amnesty International. The study revealed that in every 30 seconds, women on Twitter receive abusive messages. It said that out of every 14.5 million tweets sent to women, 1.1 million were abusive. And on the basis of colour, Black women journalists were abused more than white women.
