Outbreak of haemorrhagic septicaemia in Odisha, six elephants die

An outbreak of haemorrhagic septicaemia, which is caused by the bacteria Pasteurella multocida, has been reported in Odisha’s Karlapat Wildlife Sanctuary by the Union Environment ministry. As many as six elephants have died of the disease. Apart from this, a cow has also died in the sanctuary. The six elephants were found dead between February 1 and 14. Animals like buffaloes, cattle, and bison are mainly affected by the disease.
