Owner of hair salon sells his business for $1 to his employee

In 1965, Pio and Carole Imperati established Pio of Italy, Hair Studio. The company has moved about a little before settling on its current location on Walley Avenue approximately 50 years ago. The Imperatis sold the company for $1 earlier this year to Kathy Maura of Naugatuck, a 15-year employee, who expressed her gratitude for the old couple. "They've always treated me like a member of the family," Maura says.
