Passports run short, citizens get trapped as economic crisis worsens in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe has stopped issuing passports leaving many citizens trapped in the country as its economic crisis worsens. Applicants face indefinite wait time as the govt does not have foreign currency to pay for special imported paper, ink, and other raw materials. Even if citizens want to apply for passports urgently, they face a minimum wait of 18 months before submitting the papers. Ordinary Citizens told to try again after 2021.
