In a major step, the Union Defence Ministry has done away with the rule which required minimum continuous service of seven years for granting enhanced ordinary family pension (EOFP). The ministry said that EOFP is "calculated @ 50% of last Emoluments and OFP is calculated @ 30% of last Emoluments. EOFP is payable for 10 years without any upper age limit from the date following the date of death of the personnel in service.
